Smoking FedEx trailer on I-75 North near Dayton snarls traffic

Overheated brakes on a disabled FedEx trailer parked off the right side of I-75 North, just south of the Edwin C. Moses Boulevard exit, produced a lot of smoke and snarled traffic.

Traffic was reduced to one lane for about 30 minutes to accommodate the Dayton fire crews that arrived on scene to put water on the brakes and check the trailer to make sure the merchandise inside hadn't caught fire.

Crews were dispatched about 9:10 p.m. on a report of a FedEx truck on fire. What they found was the second of a dual trailer the driver had unhitched because of the smoke.

No injuries have been reported.
