Driver hospitalized after car crashes into pole in Dayton

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 1:30 a.m: A driver was hospitalized after crashing into a pole on West Third Street early Saturday morning, according to officials.

Crews responded to the area of West Third Street and Elmhurst Road for the wreck that occurred just after midnight.

Initial reports indicate the driver, reportedly a woman, was trapped in the vehicle, which was smoking due to the impact of the crash.

Our crews on scene say the woman did have to be extricated from the car.

The driver, whose name was not released, was transported to a local hospital with injuries that are reportedly non-life threatening, officials said.

The crash remains under investigation.

West Third and Elmhurst Road were blocked for the clean-up of the crash, but has since reopened.

Crews were called tonight to a report that a car was smoking after its driver crashed into a pole.

The crash was reported around 12:10 a.m. at West Third Street and Elmhurst Road in Dayton.

Initial reports indicated a woman was stuck in the vehicle with smoke coming from it, according to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center.
