Dayton Shell shooting: Police want to talk to person of interest

UPDATE @ 1 p.m.:

Police want to talk to a person of interest from the shooting at Shell on North Main Street.

Police are asking for help finding Alexander Ewing, 38.

Anyone with information on Ewing’s whereabouts is asked to call Dayton police at 937-333-COPS.

UPDATE @ 6:30 a.m: A 4-minute 911 revealed that the victim who was shot at a Shell gas station on North Main Street Thursday night was driven to Good Samaritan Hospital to receive aid, but the hospital permanently closed this year.

The caller repeatedly asks dispatchers to send an ambulance to the hospital for a person, who she identifies as a male, who was in the car suffering from gunshot wounds.

“I need ya’ll to come now!” the woman screams to the dispatcher.

She also explains to the dispatcher that she has a child in the car and at least one of her tires is flat.

The victim was shot three times inside the convenience store of the Shell station, Dayton police say.

The person suspected in the shooting is believed to be a store clerk.

In addition to the victim, the suspect was not on scene when officials arrived around 11:20 p.m.

The names of the suspect or the victim have not been released.

The incident remains under investigation.

UPDATE @ 1:15 a.m: The victim in a shooting that occurred in the convenience store of the Shell station on North Main Street Thursday night is in critical condition.

According to Dayton Police Sgt. Thomas Schloss, the victim was shot three times in what they believe may have been an altercation with a Shell clerk.

The male suspect nor the victim were on scene when officials arrived around 11:20 p.m. to the station at 3613 N. Main St.

The victim was reportedly taken to an area hospital by private conveyance, while the suspect, whose name was not released, fled the scene and still remains at large.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene.

The investigation is ongoing and we will continue to update this developing story.

INITIAL REPORT

Dayton police are investigating a report of a shooting in the convenience store of the Shell station, 3613 N. Main St.

The incident, which is believed to involve a Shell clerk who fired the shot during an altercation with a person believed to have been a customer, was reported about 11:20 p.m.

Police are interviewing several people who were in the store or outside pumping gas at the time of the shooting.

We're hearing the victim has been driven to a hospital by private conveyance.
