SIDNEY — The Shelby County Animal Shelter has been authorized to begin the process of adopting the French bulldogs that were seized following a house fire last year.

The 18 dogs are now available for adoption and will be available through a lottery-style process.

The following steps must be completed to be considered:

  1. Submit a completed application (contact the Shelby County Animal Shelter at 937-498-7201 for details) if interested between June 12, 2020 and June 16, 2020. Applications must be completed in their entirety. Applications submitted before June 12, 2020 and after June 16, 2020 will not be accepted.
  2. Completed Applications can be faxed to the Animal Shelter at 937-498-4591 or emailed to shelbycountyanimalshelter@yahoo.com
  3. A lottery type system will be utilized for adoption of the French Bulldogs. Individuals will be called to set up an appointment to see the canines if selected.
  4. Adoption fee associated with the French Bulldogs is $300.00. All French Bulldog canines are spayed/neutered, current on their vaccinations, and microchipped

The dogs had been seized by authorities last March after a fire in a house in the 200 block of North Walnut Street in Sidney..

The owner of the dogs Grazyna Hanna Latocha, 68, was sentenced to 30 days in jail last month after she was found guilty of two counts involving prohibitions with companion animals. Latocha also was ordered not to have any companion or breeding animals, records show.
