Union City, Ind., man killed in head-on collision on SR 571 in Darke County

DARKE COUNTY — A 50-year-old Union City, Indiana, man was killed in the head-on collision Wednesday afternoon in the 300 block of state Route 571, the Darke County Sheriff’s Office said.

Rodney Weaver was heading west on 571 when his Toyota Corolla vehicle collided with a Dodge Ram 2500 van driven by Zachary VanVickle, 35, of Greenville.

Weaver died at the scene.

VanVickle was taken to Wayne Healthcare by Union City Ohio Rescue. The extent of his injuries is not known.

The accident, which occurred east of the Union City limit just after 2 p.m., remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office.
