Serious injuries reported after crash involving car, motorcycle in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD — A CareFlight medical helicopter was called to transport a motorcyclist to a Dayton hospital after a crash in Springfield Friday afternoon, according to police and initial reports.

The crash between the car and motorcycle was reported at the intersection of Selma Road and East John Street around 2:20 p.m.

The motorcyclist suffered what was described as a serious head injury and was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center, police said. The medical helicopter met medics at the hospital to take the motorcyclist to a Dayton hospital for treatment.

The motorcyclist’s condition was not immediately known. It was not known if anyone inside the car reported injuries.

Dispatch records indicate the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The intersection of Selma Road and East John Street was shut down for the crash investigation.
