Sen. Sherrod Brown: Biden will have the votes

As the nation awaits the final outcome of the vote count from Tuesday’s election, Ohio U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, a Democrat, could wait no longer to declare a winner. “I’m confident when the votes are counted that Joe Biden is going to be the next President. I think all signs point to that,” Brown said.

Brown made his comments early in the day Wednesday, prior to the Associated Press calling Wisconsin for Biden. Later Michigan was projected to go to Biden as well.

In a conference call with reporters on Zoom, Brown said if President Donald Trump tries to tie up the election with litigation it won’t work. “I’m not a lawyer but there is no issue upon which the President can go to the Supreme Court to contest this election,” Brown said.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, a Republican and supporter of President Trump’s re-election said he had no prediction on who will get to 270 Electoral College votes first.

DeWine, however, pledged to work with Biden should the Democrat eventually win the White House.

“I’m going to work with whoever the President of the United States is. I think its important to have a good relationship with the President. We may agree, we may disagree on things but the relationship is very important,” DeWine said.

A review of the vote totals in Ohio showed President Trump won the Buckeye state by the same margin as he did in 2016 when he beat Hillary Clinton by 8 percentage points. Trump won Montgomery County in 2016 by 1,893 votes but a strong Democratic turnout this year gave Biden his only county victory in the Miami Valley.

Montgomery County Democrats in 2020 managed to turn the county back to blue by producing a win for Biden by  5,507 votes.
