Semi carrying 30K pounds of cigarettes flips on U.S. 35 in Greene County

GREENE CO. — UPDATE @ 7 a.m: The right lane is currently blocked on westbound U.S. 35 near N. Bickett Road for the clean-up of a semi that flipped earlier this morning.

INITIAL REPORT

The driver of a semi-truck that was carrying 30,000 pounds of cigarettes fell asleep behind the wheel causing a rollover crash to occur on U.S. 35  in Greene County Wednesday morning.

Crews were dispatched around 5 a.m. to westbound U.S. 35 near N. Bickett Road due to an initial report of a semi on its side.

Troopers from the Xenia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol say the driver was traveling from South Carolina to Indiana when the crash occurred.

The driver will be cited for failure to control, officials confirm.

The crash did not cause a traffic issue, as no lanes were blocked.
