Driver, passenger in Darke County motorcycle crash in fair condition

UPDATE August 19 @ 6:57 a.m.: 

Greg Byrd and Melissa Brenneman are both listed in fair condition, according to Miami Valley Hospital.

UPDATE @ 11:30 p.m.:

The preliminary investigation of the crash that occurred Saturday night revealed a 2007 Harley Davidson, driven by Greg Byrd, 46, of Greenville, was traveling north on U.S. 127 when the rear tire blew, causing the motorcycle to overturn.

Byrd, along with passenger Melissa Brenneman, were both ejected and flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital to be treated. Their injuries are unknown at this time.

Darke County deputies, Osgood Fire and Rescue, North Star Fire Department and Ansonia Rescue all responded to the crash.

This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

UPDATE @ 8:32 p.m.:

Two people were reportedly taken by CareFlight to a local hospital.

Injuries are unknown at this time.

FIRST REPORT:

A motorcycle accident occurred Saturday night on State Route 127, south of Route 705, in North Star village, according to Darke County dispatch.

Two people were reportedly ejected from the motorcycle and CareFlight was requested.

Crews were dispatched around  7:15 p.m., and a second helicopter was also requested.
