OSU student killed in a shooting near campus Sunday morning

COLUMBUS — An Ohio State University student was killed in a shooting that occurred near campus early Sunday morning.

Twenty-three-year-old Chase Meola was found in a parking area shot, according to our news partners at WBNS-TV.

Meola was pronounced dead at the scene in the 100 block of 14th Avenue.

Investigators say Kintie Mitchell Jr., 18, has been charged with murder in connection to the incident.

Initial reports found that an altercation happened outside after people were asked to leave a party, WBNS-TV reported.

“The Ohio State University community is in mourning, and our deepest condolences and support go to the family and friends of Chase,” the university said in a statement.
