2 cars collide at Dayton intersection after chasing each other

Two cars were allegedly chasing each other Sunday morning before colliding in the middle of a Dayton intersection.

Crews were dispatched around 6:30 a.m. on a hit-and-run to the intersection of Adams and Alberta streets, according to a police incident report.

The two cars took off chasing each other and took down a Dayton Power & Light Company pole and and iron fence in the 100 block of Alberta Street.

DP&L was notified that the pole was shattered at the base and held up only by its connecting wires.

The fire department blocked the intersection with was covered by scattered debris and car parts.

A resident said he heard a loud noise in the front of his house and when he looked out of his window, he saw a dark colored truck and a car of unknown color fleeing at a high rate of speed, the report stated.

The resident said the truck continued north and the car continued west on Adams Street.

According to the investigation, one car was possibly traveling westbound on Adams Street and failed to stop at a stop sign when it collided with the other car that may have been traveling northbound on Alberta Street.

When the two vehicles collided in the middle of the intersection, both cars damaged an iron fence in front of two different addresses in the 100 block of Alberta Street, the report stated.

Both cars fled the area and no arrests have been made.
