If the Air Force decides to bring the Space Force here it would bring 1,400 new jobs to the area.

After the tour of Wright-Patterson, a press conference was held discussing the chances of the Dayton area landing this competitive opportunity.

House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy said he likes Wright-Patterson’s chances of landing this new mission.

“This is holy land when it comes to flight, the development of flight,” McCarthy said. “The work that is being done here, this is a critical place.”

Congressman Turner said they did several things to try and get Space Force here, not only telling the history but also highlighting the resources and workforce already here.

“We understood that the competition for Space Force is not just the headquarters it’s for all the parts and pieces and it’s for some of the things that are already done here,” Turner said.

“We want to make sure we protect and defend what is here, that we grow the opportunities here and we integrate into the new Space Force.”
