Beavercreek Twp. fire crews were dispatched to investigate a possible fire at the Red Lobster in Beavercreek this evening.

UPDATE @ 9:20 p.m.: Crews put out a fire in mulch at the side of the Red Lobster in Beavercreek but caused water damage inside the building that forced the business to close early, a Beavercreek Twp. fire official said.

Someone tossed smoking materials into the mulch and the resulting flames worked their way up the side of the building, the fire official said.

Firefighters quickly doused the fire but in doing so flooded a men’s room on the other side of the wall. That prompted the evacuation and early closing.

The fire official could not estimate the dollar loss to the building or its contents.
