Police: Woman wouldn’t make drug buy, so man bites her in the face

A Springfield man is accused of multiple charges after police said he bit a woman in her face because she wouldn't buy drugs, according to a police report.

Antonio Leffel, 38, pleaded not guilty to domestic violence and assault charges on Feb. 9 in Clark County Municipal Court. Bond was set at $2,000.

Police were sent to Madison Avenue and Olive Street after receiving multiple calls about a man and woman yelling and screaming at each other in the street, according to the report.

As they arrived on scene, officers said they saw Leffel holding a woman's arms to keep her from leaving. The man and woman were driving in the area to buy drugs, but Leffel became upset when she told him she didn't have any money and he began hitting her, the victim told police.

Leffel later caught the woman on foot and tackled her, according to the report. As she struggled to get away, the report indicated, she hit Leffel so he bit her in the face.

The woman suffered cuts on her face and grab marks on her arms, according to the report. She was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center.

Leffel remains in the Clark County Jail.
