Man steals items from Speedway, police return them

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 2:20 a.m: A man is in police custody after stealing items from a Dayton Speedway early Thursday morning.

We initially reported the incident as a robbery, but it has been downgraded to theft, per officials.

The individual was able to snag the items, including a box of cigarettes, while the gas station employee was not looking, according to our crew.

Trotwood police returned the bag of stolen merchandise to the establishment.
