UPDATE: Man hit by train in Middletown identified

MIDDLETOWN — Middletown police are investigating a deadly accident involving a man and train Monday morning.

Officers and medics were called to the area of Yankee Road and Waneta Avenue just before 8 a.m. on reports of a person who was hit by a train.

Andrew Smith, 33, of Middletown, was identified as the man hit by the Butler County Coroner’s Office Wednesday. He was pronounced dead on scene, according to police.
