Search continues for 2 suspects in Dayton pharmacy armed robbery

UPDATE @10:20 a.m. 05/12/17

Two juveniles suspects in the Best Pharmacy armed robbery entered the business twice before demanding oxycodone and displaying a handgun, according to a Dayton police report.

Around 4:16 p.m. on Thursday, city officers were dispatched to Best Pharmacy in the 2800 block of Salem Avenue on a panic/hold up alarm complaint. The call was later upgraded to an aggravated robbery complaint before police officers arrived on the scene.

When police arrived, pharmacy employees reported two juvenile male suspects came into the pharmacy and attempted to fill a prescription. An employee turned them away, and told them to come back after they complete the necessary paperwork and bring identification.

Fifteen minutes later, the juveniles came back to the pharmacy, placed a handwritten note on the counter, and pushed it toward an employee, police wrote in the incident report.

Employees reported the second male suspect pulled a black “cowboy gun” revolver from his waistband and pointed it at pharmacy employees, according to police.

“The two demanded ‘all the oxycodone’ they could give,” Dayton Officer William Davis wrote in the incident report.

One employee pressed a panic alarm button, while the other employee placed several bottles of pills in a plastic bag for the suspects, according to police.

The suspects ran out of the pharmacy after getting the bag of pills, according to the police incident report.

An employee chased the suspects to Tennyson Drive until losing sight of them.

Police unsuccessfully tried to track the suspects using a K-9.

Police were able to review surveillance video from a nearby business in an attempt to help identify suspects.

One of the suspects was wearing a bright orange hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, white sneakers and had a diamond-like stud earring in his left ear, according to pharmacy employees. The second suspect wore a gray zippered sweatshirt with black material on the shoulders, blue jeans and shoulder length braids in his hair, according to the police incident report.

Witnesses believe the suspects were between the ages of 14 and 18.
