Police looking for armed robber who hit Dollar General in Dayton

An armed robber hit the Dollar General, 2228 N. Gettysburg Ave., and police are searching an area near the business.

The incident was reported just after 7:30 p.m. According to Montgomery Regional Dispatch officers, the suspect was last seen on foot headed toward St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church.

At least one K-9 unit was deployed to start a track in the area of Larkspur Drive, north of the church.

  • On southbound I-75, south of Needmore Road, crash affecting the left lane around 5:45 a.m. 

Surface Street Incidents

  • At Clement Avenue and Stewart Street in Dayton, a crash with entrapment was reported around 8:04 a.m. Stewart street is shut down at Clement in both directions. As of 8:30 a.m., the driver of one vehicle is still trapped in his car.
  • At Main Street and Progress Drive in Xenia, a three-vehicle crash was reported around 8:10 a.m. 
  • At Kessler Frederick Road and Ohio 55 in Miami Countya crash was reported around 8 a.m. CareFlight has been requested.

  • Arlington Road between Pleasant Plain and Upper Lewisburg Salem Road, BRIDGE CLOSURE, March 5 - Sept. 30. All ramps for I-70 will remain open. 
  • Airport Access Road South between US 40 and I-70, Lane closure May 8 - 31. One southbound lane will remain open.
  • Diamond Mill Road between Upper Lewisburg-Salem Road and Pleasant Plain Road, ROAD CLOSURE April 30 - May 20. The official detour is: Upper Lewisburg Salem Road to Wellbaum Road to Brookville Salem Road

  • State Route 235 between Dayton Yellow Springs and Enon Roads, ROAD CLOSURE for six months. The official detour is U.S. 68, West Hyde, and West Enon Roads.
  • Trebein Road from U.S. 35, Lane restrictions April 16 - August, 2018 for construction of a right turn lane. One lane will remain maintained at all times with flagging operations.

CLARK COUNTY

  • I-70 east Ramp to I-675 north, RAMP CLOSURE March 15 - Aug. 15. The official detour is: I-70 east to I-675 south to SR 444 to I-675 north
  • Spangler Road south between Restoration Drive and I-70, Traffic pattern switch March 26 - August 15. Southbound Spangler Road traffic going to I-675 south and I-70 east will be moved to northbound side of I-675. Traffic will then be redirected to the southbound side of I-675 after passing over I-70. 

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY

  • Upper Valley Pike between State Route 296 and Lippincott Road, ROAD CLOSURE, starting April 16 for approximately four weeks.

LOGAN COUNTY

  • SR 274 between Morris Rose Road and SR 235, Daily lane closures May 1 - June 29 between 7 a.m. 5 p.m.

2 teens arrested after Target break-in, pursuit in Huber Heights

UPDATE @ 7:30 a.m: Huber Heights police have arrested two 18-year-old males in connection with a Target break-in that led to a pursuit early Wednesday morning.

Ankeese Brown and Cy’Ran Campbell, both from Dayton, are currently in Montgomery County Jail, according to the jail website.

The teens are suspected of breaking into the Target on Executive Blvd., where one to three Xbox gaming systems were stolen. 

They then led police on a pursuit on Old Troy Pike that ended on Taylorsville Road after an officer made contact with the left rear tire of their vehicle, causing it to spin. 

Their charges are pending at this time. 

UPDATE @5:10 a.m.

One to three Xbox gaming systems were stolen when a Target was broken into early Wednesday morning.

Police said the two to three males who broke into the store also attempted to break into a locked phone case, but were unsuccessful. 

Officers responded to Target located the suspect vehicle traveling south on Old Troy Pike near I-70. The vehicle did not stop and continued south on Old Troy Pike, and near Taylorsville Road, an officer made contact with the left rear tire, spinning the vehicle. 

A few minutes later, the vehicle stopped on Taylorsville Road. Two inside the vehicle were detained.

UPDATE @ 3:20 a.m: Two men are in custody after reportedly breaking into Target and leading officials on a pursuit Wednesday morning, officials say.

OTHER LOCAL NEWS: Man shot in robbery attempt near Dayton gas station

Huber Heights police were dispatched to the store at 5700 Executive Boulevard around 2:30 a.m. on reports of a break-in, per initial reports.

After seeing a car that matched the suspect vehicle description, a short, low-speed pursuit began southbound on Old Troy Pike near the I-70 overpass, according to officials.

The pursuit ended in the 5600 block of Taylorsville Road and the suspects were apprehended.

Officials say the men could face charges including failure to comply and breaking and entering. 

No word on if anything was taken from the store. 

INITIAL REPORT

Police are responding to a break-in that occurred at the Target in Huber Heights Wednesday morning. 

The incident occurred at 5700 Executive Boulevard around 2:30 a.m., per initial reports. 

There are at least three subjects reportedly involved.

UPDATE @ 7:15 a.m: A woman was shot in a reported armed robbery on Bentley Street Wednesday morning, according to a police report.

OTHER LOCAL NEWS: Teen bound in Huber Heights, father’s body found 19 miles away in Springfield park

Dayton police responded to the 500 block around 1 a.m. on a person reportedly shot, per initial reports. 

The report indicates the woman’s purse was taken as a result of the robbery.

She was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, officials say.

There are still no suspects in this incident. 

UPDATE @ 1:35 a.m: Dayton police are investigating after a woman was shot in Dayton early Wednesday morning.

OTHER LOCAL NEWS: Teen bound in Huber Heights, father’s body found 19 miles away in Springfield park

Crews were dispatched to the 500 block of Bentley Street around 1 a.m. on a person shot, per initial reports.

Officials told this news outlet that they are working to learn if the woman was shot at the dispatched address or another location.

A 911 caller stated they heard at least two gunshots in the area of Bentley Street and Bickmore Ave.

“I heard screaming and yelling. A girl was screaming and yelling”, the caller said. 

The woman was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

There are no suspects at this time.

Officials are on scene in the 500 block of Bentley Street after a person was reportedly shot early Wednesday morning.

The incident was dispatched around 1 a.m. with a woman reportedly shot in the side, per initial reports.

Firearms stolen in Warren County gun store break-in

Several guns were reportedly stolen when a firearms store was broken into early Wednesday morning.

The break-in happened just after 2 a.m. at Firepower Arms & Supply in the 700 block of Reading Road. Mason police responded after an alarm activated and found a front window broken out. 

Three males were able to remove an unknown number of firearms, police said. Detectives are on scene working to determine the type and number of firearms stolen.

Police are looking for one male suspect wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, grey sweatpants, another wearing blue and white basketball shorts with a navy blue hooded sweatshirt, and a third suspect wearing tight black jeans with a grey hooded sweatshirt with black on the sleeves. One of the suspects had neon green gloves.
