Bicyclist suffers life-threatening injuries after being hit by vehicle in Clark County

CLARK COUNTY — A Springfield man suffered serious, life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a minivan in Moorefield Twp., Clark County Saturday night.

The crash was reported on Croft Road east of state Route 4 around 6 p.m. Saturday, state troopers said in a media release.

The bicyclist, identified as Nicholas Scaggs, 23, of Springfield, was traveling east on Croft Road when he was hit by a minivan that was also traveling east, state troopers said. Scaggs was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the minivan, identified as Andra Southward, 48, of Springfield, was not hurt in the crash.

Scaggs was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Potential factors in the crash were not released and are still under investigation, state troopers said.
