Police: Drugs thrown from vehicle during pursuit in Troy; 3 arrested

TROY — Drugs were thrown out of a vehicle during a brief police pursuit that ended with three people in custody, according to Troy police.

Officers attempted to stop a vehicle that was entering the city on Peters Road around 10 a.m., according to investigators.

The driver fled from police and led officers on a brief pursuit where drugs were thrown out of the vehicle during the chase, investigators said.

The driver and two passengers fled from the truck after it came to a stop in a driveway near the intersection of South Ridge and McKaig avenues, police said.

All three were taken into custody after a brief chase on foot. The driver, identified by police as Adam Plantz, was booked into the Miami County Jail on charges of failure to comply, tampering with evidence, and possession of drugs, according to police. Plantz was also wanted for questioning in another drug-related investigation, police said.

Christoper Byrant and Ashley McLaughin were also arrested following the foot chase. Bryant was also booked in the county jail on charges of tampering with evidence, obstructing official business, and an outstanding warrant for a probation violation, according to police.

McLaughlin was transported to an area hospital for treatment for injuries she did not sustain from officers, but will face an obstructing official business charge, police said.

Mugshots and ages of the three arrested in the incident were not immediately available.
