No arrest has been made as of Wednesday afternoon, according to the statement.

The department continued its appeal to the public for help in investigating the killing.

Clark died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to Montgomery County Coroner Kent Harshbarger, who ruled the death a homicide.

Crews were dispatched to the area of West Stewart Street and Campbell Avenue late Monday night.

Dayton Police Lt. Randy Beane said crews found a man lying outside a vehicle. The man, later identified as Clark, had been shot and the car had multiple bullet holes in it, the lieutenant said.

Medics pronounced Clark dead at the scene.

Officers found multiple shell casings on scene as well, but Beane said they did not have any witnesses to the shooting, only people who arrived after the gunfire.

Beane said officers were following a lead about a car reported speeding from the scene, but nobody is in custody.

At least one caller to 9-1-1 reporting seeing a male fall out of a car. The caller said another member of the family blocked the intersection with a vehicle until police and a medic unit arrived.

The caller also reported seeing a car leave the scene.

The report of the shooting was made about 10:46 p.m. on January 13.
