Dayton Bomb Squad removes ordnance from Kettering home on Sunray Road

UPDATE @ 8:44 p.m.: Dayton Bomb Squad members removed what appeared to be hand grenades and black powder from a residence in the 4700 block of Sunray Road in Kettering.

Police tell us they were not sure whether the ordnance was live or dummy rounds. The ordnance was taken to another location and destroyed.

Police also tell us a woman found the ordnance while cleaning her home and called police. Her husband, who is deceased, had been in possession of the ordnance, police tell us. No one was injured.

UPDATE @ 6 p.m.

A bomb squad, police and medics were on scene in the 4700 block of Sunray Road in Kettering.

Neighbors said a souvenir World War II device may have been found in a home.

Multiple Kettering police cars and a bomb squad unit are currently responding to Sunray Road in Kettering.
