Pedestrian hit by bus in Dayton ‘was on the phone,’ caller tells 9-1-1 dispatcher

UPDATE @ 6:20 p.m.: A male hit by a bus "was on the phone," a caller to 9-1-1 said, when he walked into the vehicle's patch at Cleveland Avenue and South Smithville Road in Dayton.

The caller, either a passenger or the driver of the bus from the Miami Valley Child Development Center, said the pedestrian walked against the traffic light and in front of the bus.

“We were turning and he walked in front” of the bus, the caller told the 9-1-1 operator/dispatcher with the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center. The caller did not identify herself as a passenger or driver.

“He’s fine but we still need to report this,” the caller said, noting there were children on the bus.

INITIAL REPORT

One person has been taken to a hospital after being hit by a vehicle in the area of Cleveland Avenue and South Smithville Road in Dayton.

The incident was reported just before 5 p.m. The victim's injury is believed to be non-life threatening.
