Pedestrian bridge connecting Riverscape, Deeds Point MetroParks reopens

DAYTON — Five River MetroParks announced that the Deeds Point pedestrian bridge, located in between Deeds Point MetroPark and RiverScape MetroPark, has officially reopened.

The bridge, which connects the northern portion of the Great Miami River Trail and the Stillwater River trail to the southern portion of the Great Miami River Trail and the Mad River Trail, reopened Friday morning after being closed since 2020.

Work started in March to replace the bridge, which closed due to corrosion issues.

The steel used to build the original bridge was found after it was built that it corroded faster that expected when exposed to water, according to MetroParks officials.

The new bridge was a combined effort between the City of Dayton, Five Rivers MetroParks, and the Miami Conservancy District.

“Get ready to ride, walk, run, jog and more across the Deeds Point Bridge,” Five Rivers Metroparks officials said in a social media post.
