Participants were able to bring their pets and service dogs, according to Director of Volunteer Engagement, Kalynn Clark.

Some past recipients of service dogs through 4 Paws for Ability, Inc. participated in the fundraiser, Clark said.

4 Paws for Ability, Inc. trains and places service dogs for children and veterans, Clark said.

Dogs are trained for specific focuses including Autism Assistance Dogs, Mobility Assistance Dogs, Seizure Assistance Dogs, and others, according to the release.

“The dogs can make a huge difference in kid’s lives and veteran’s lives,” said 5K participant Joel Legawic.

Legawic said he is a veteran and is on the list to receive a service dog next summer.

“The service dogs are just a huge help to kind of reground you when you’re on edge, and you don’t really know why,” Legawic said.
