I-70 east reopens in Preble County hours after semi overturned

PREBLE COUNTY — UPDATE @ 2:40 p.m.: 

All eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 have reopened at U.S. 127 in Preble County following an overturned semi Monday morning, according to state troopers.

UPDATE @ 9:55 a.m.:

The right shoulder of I-70 eastbound has been allowed to open, but both lanes remain blocked after an overturned semi near U.S. 127 in Preble County.

The semi was hauling 35,000 pounds of dishwashing liquid and state troopers said cleanup will take some time. There is not an estimated time the highway will completely reopen.

Troopers are investigating the cause of the crash, but said wind gusts do not appear to be a factor.The driver has also been cited with failure to control, state troopers said.

UPDATE @ 9:35 a.m.: 

The driver of a semi that overturned on I-70 east was not injured in the crash according to investigators. 

The crash continues to block all lanes of eastbound I-70 near U.S. 127 but it was unknown if state troopers had an estimated time when the highway will reopen.

FIRST REPORT

All lanes of eastbound Interstate 70 are shut down in Preble County at U.S. 127 due to an overturned semi Monday morning.

The crash was reported by a state trooper around 8:40 a.m. and is reportedly blocking both lanes of the highway, according to initial reports.

State troopers are reporting I-70 will be shut down at U.S. 127 for the crash.
