Springfield OSHP trooper charged with rape, drug offense

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY — An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper assigned to the Springfield post is facing charges of rape, sexual battery and an aggravated trafficking in drug charge.

The charges were filled against John McLeod, 40, of Marysville, Friday, according to Champaign County Municipal Court records. The allegations stem from June 7 and the victim is known to McLeod.

According to court records, the victim had ingested vodka and Vyvanse, a drug used to ADHD and binge eating disorder.

Bond was set for McLeod at $40,000 and he is not in jail, according to online records.

“The allegations against Mr. McLeod do not reflect the values of this agency. He is currently on leave without pay pending the outcome of the investigation,” OSHP said in a written statement.
