Grand jury indicts man accused of shooting, killing mother’s boyfriend

DAYTON — A grand jury has indicted a 26-year-old Dayton man on murder and felonious assault for the shooting death of his mother’s boyfriend, prosecutor’s said.

Dillon Engle was indicted today and he was arrested at the time of the shooting.

Police and medics responded to reports of a shooting on the 700 block of Gondert Avenue around 12:20 a.m. last Tuesday, according to dispatch records.

Dayton Police Sgt. Eric Brown said they found a man was dead. Brian Jacobs, 51, was identified as the person who was killed, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office. Jacobs lived at the house where the shooting happened, records show.

Detectives worked through the early morning hours collecting evidence from the scene.
