Indiana State Fair is on for 2021; Ohio fair will not be open to the general public

COLUMBUS, INDIANAPOLIS — The Ohio State Fair will be limited to livestock and educational competitions for exhibitors, their families and guests, in 2021, organizers announced in April.

This is in contrast to the Indiana State Fair, which organizers announced today would be fully open. The fair is set to return from July 30-August 22.

Back in April, organizers of the Ohio fair explained their decision on Facebook.

“For the last several months, we have been weighing options for how to safely open the gates to the 2021 Ohio State Fair. While we are hopeful that we will soon be on the other side of this pandemic, the reality is that cases of COVID-19 remain high, and we just don’t know how things will look in July.”

Fair organizers said the fair is expected to begin on July 19 for those taking part.

“Many of the typical things associated with the Ohio State Fair rides, concerts, entertainers, live music, food vendors, and shopping are expected to return in 2022,” the fair said in a statement. “This decision will not only help to protect the health and safety of Ohioans, it will also protect the long-term financial viability of the fair.”

The 2022 Ohio state fair is expected to be held from July 27 to August 7.
