Ohio flags to be lowered in remembrance of victims of Nashville school shooting

COLUMBUS — Governor Mike DeWine has ordered all United States and State of Ohio flags be flown at half-staff in remembrance of the six victims of the school shooting in Nashville, Tennessee on Monday.

Three 9-year-old children and three adults were killed in the shooting at the Covenant School, authorities said.

The alleged shooter was identified by police as 28-year-old Nashville resident Audrey Elizabeth Hale. Police said officers shot and killed Hale as shots were being fired in a lobby-like area on the second floor of the school.

DeWine’s announcement Tuesday comes in accordance with orders issued by President Joe Biden.

Flags are to be flown at half-staff at all public buildings and grounds throughout Ohio until sunset on on March 31, 2023.
