ODOT warns of driver’s license scam

The Ohio Department of Transportation is issuing a warning about an email scam that target’s people asking for driver’s license information.

“We’ve been made aware of suspicious emails that appear to be from ODOT requesting customers update their driver’s license info,” ODOT said. “ODOT does not issue driver licenses in Ohio.”

The Bureau of Motor Vehicles issues driver’s licenses in the state, but ODOT said they also would not be requesting the information included in the email.

The email says it is a “formal notification to let you know that you are to update your license information with the Ohio Department of Transportation” and includes the ODOT logo on the top of the email.

If you get the email ignore it and don’t click on any links associated with it.
