Mother charged with leaving child alone in hot car outside Miamisburg grocery store

MIAMISBURG — A Miami Twp. woman is accused of leaving her 2-year-old daughter alone inside a hot car in Miami Twp. last week.

Police responded to the parking lot of Aldi Foods, 203 N. Springboro Pike, Saturday after receiving a call to check on the child.

Ying Lin, 26, is charged with endangering children and a child restraint violation for driving to the store without the proper child restraint, police said.

“Luckily a bystander called us and we were able to intervene,” said Investigator Cindy Threlheld with Miamisburg Police.

That 911 caller described the situation to dispatchers.

““There is a baby left in a car that’s running and there’s nobody with it,” the caller said.

When officers arrived the child was “covered in sweat” and was “crying heavily,” police said. The air condition in the vehicle was not on.

“Temperatures can elevate so quickly,” Threlkeld said. “If you see that act by calling 911.”

The temperature outside was 89 degrees and the child was treated at the scene by medics.

The child was released to their father.
