No more patients at Good Samaritan; Dayton hospital ceases operations

DAYTON — There are no more patients at Good Samaritan Hospital, which is no longer in operation.

“The last patients have been treated and transferred or discharged as of 6 p.m. this evening,” Ben Sutherly, director of systems communications for Premier Health said Friday evening.

The hospital technically closes as of 12:01 a.m. Monday, and until then can provide a list of nearby emergency departments and urgent care centers to those seeking treatment, he said.

Good Samaritan Hospital opened in 1932.

Premier said it was shutting down the hospital because it was unsustainable to operate two hospitals within five miles of each other.
