DAYTON — Montgomery County Treasurer Russ Joseph said he has made it a priority to increase his office’s level of customer service to taxpayers.
“I took office the end of January, just weeks before the first half property taxes were due,” Joseph said. “I recognized immediately that we needed to do a better job of serving our customers. It was unacceptable to me that people would have to wait in line for 20 minutes or more to fulfill their duty to the community by paying their taxes.”
To avoid additional penalty, property taxes in Montgomery County need to be paid by July 19.

Property tax payments can be mailed, paid online at www.mctreasurer.org or in person at the treasurer’s office in the the County Administration Building at 451 W. Third St.
“We have increased the number of cashier windows that are open for those paying by cash and credit card, and have opened a new “Fast Pay” line for those paying by check.”
The office is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, but also will be open from 8 a.m. to noon July 13.
Joseph also is offering Memorial Day tornado survivors an option to delay their tax due date by up to one year.
“We know that many in our community are continuing to recover from the destruction brought by the tornadoes,” Joseph said. “We want to do everything possible under the law to help them in their time of need.”

Property owners whose property value has decreased by at least 25 percent as a result of the tornadoes may be eligible for the extension. Those interested in the extension should visit www.mctreasurer.org to fill out a request form, which is due by July 19.
