$5 million to be made available for tornado relief

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati and a group of Dayton-area financial institutions and nonprofit agencies are announcing a $5 million donation toward relief for those affected by the Memorial Day tornadoes at a news conference on Wednesday.

The organizations, including CareSource, Huntington Bank, KeyBank, County Corp, Rebuilding Together Dayton, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton and the Miami Valley Community Action Partnership, are expected to attend the news conference.

Congressman Mike Turner, local officials from FHLB Cincinnati and other partners in this effort will be present as well.

FHLB Cincinnati's Disaster Reconstruction Program funds will be made available to help low- and moderate-income residents in Greene, Miami and Montgomery counties to repair, rebuild or replace homes damaged by the tornadoes.

Some homeowners may be eligible for grants of up to $20,000. Additionally, help will be available for renters seeking to buy homes.
