Miami Twp. family says someone set fire to their Trump flags

MIAMI TWP., Montgomery County — UPDATE @ 10:11 p.m.: Miami Twp. police are investigating an arson after a family said someone burned Trump flags outside their home.

“It’s terrifying. I wonder if they’re going to come back and try something else,” Heather Jordan told News Center 7′s Molly Koweek on Friday night.

Jordan said when she left for work Thursday morning she found the burned flags.

Her husband, Austin Jordan, said someone burned 12 small and two large Trump flags.

The Jordans also said someone spray painted “Racist Bigots BLM” on their garage and spray painted over Austin’s license plate.

“If this person’s affiliated with Black Lives matter which is what I’m assuming is BLM, the fact that they preach tolerance and they preach acceptance, burning a flag supporting the president is not tolerance or acceptance,” Heather Jordan said.

Surveillance video appears to show someone try to spray paint the camera lens before starting to ignite the flags.

“I don’t know if they were trying to catch my house on fire or if their goal was just to burn the flags,” Heather Jordanshe said.

Now the Jordans’ house has burn marks.

“Who’s to say they don’t do it to us again or go to do it to somebody else again, and actually catch a house on fire and the family’s inside,” Heather Jordan said.

The Jordans are offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the person responsible.

Police responded to the house in the 4000 block of Waterbury Drive around 7 a.m. Thursday after Heather Jordan called to report the damage.

“Someone burned some flags that I had. They were Trump flags,” the woman told police dispatchers. “And then they spray painted on my garage door.”

Photos obtained by News Center 7 show “racist bigots BLM” spray painted in black on a garage door at the house.

Investigators have not made any arrests, police said Friday afternoon.
