Darke County Jail now open weeks after meth spill sickens deputies

The Darke County Jail is back open tonight, weeks after more than a dozen officers were sickened by a meth spill.

The Darke County Sheriff’s Office announced the jail was open on its Facebook page.

A cleaning company will be back out at the Darke County Jail today after test results for two areas came back positive for meth.

Last month, 14 officers became ill after a meth spill in the jail. The cleaning company will be back out today using different chemicals.

Darke County jail inmates are being booked into the Miami and Mercer county jails — at a cost of $60 per day per inmate — until test results come back negative.
