The training, which began Thursday, will be held at Coldwater High School, 310 N. Second St.

This is the fifth year the sheriff’s office has hosted an active shooter training session in Mercer County.

Past training locations have included Marion Locals Schools, Ft. Recovery Schools, Parkway Local Schools and St. Henry Schools.

“Our hope is to allow all of the officers from Mercer County to attend training in each of the school districts so that they get an idea of the general lay outs of the buildings that they may be asked to respond to one day,” according to the sheriff’s office

Authorities want the public to be aware of the training and have posted signs around the school warning them to stay clear of the simulation.

Simulation training weapons will be used and large law enforcement presence will be around the school and in the area.

The class will run from 8 a.m to 4 p.m.
