Mercer County deputies travel to New York, Michigan to retrieve 2 fugitives

Mercer County Sheriff’s detectives traveled to upstate New York and the metropolitan Detroit, Michigan, area to round up two local fugitives who had left Ohio in an attempt to escape charges, Sheriff Jeff Grey said Wednesday.

On Feb. 10, two deputies flew to Albany International Airport in New York to bring back 22-year-old Daniel Morris. Morris was wanted for failing to show up for a pretrial hearing on an original charge of felony theft.

Rensselaer County (NY) and Albany County (NY) Sheriff’s deputies assisted in transporting Morris to the airport from jail, Sheriff Grey said.

On Feb. 13, a Mercer County Sheriff’s deputy drove to Oakland County, Michigan, to take custody of Ontrionis Armour, 19, who was wanted from Mercer County.

Armour had been arrested in Oakland County after a bench warrant was issued for him when he failed to appear for sentencing on felony theft charge.

Morris and Armour remain in the Mercer County Jail, pending court hearings.
