JBS Plainwell is voluntarily recalling Meijer ground beef due to the potential presence of hard pieces plastic in the meat.
The recalled ground beef includes the following:
- Meijer lean ground beef: 90 percent lean, 10 percent fat; UPC 2-02106
- Meijer ground beef: 85 percent lean, 15 percent fat; UPC 2-01258
- Meijer ground beef: 80 percent lean, 20 percent fat; UPC 2-01155
All the recalled products have a sell by date of April 10, according to Meijer.
The ground beef was reportedly sold between March 22 and April 9 in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin stores.
The products were produced on March 20 and have the establishment number EST.562M inside the USDA inspection mark.
The recall — which was announced Tuesday — was issued after there were two complaints of pieces of hard green plastic in the ground beef.
JBS Plainwell recalled the items as a precautionary measure in cooperation with the USDA.
Anyone who purchased the recalled products should return the items at Meijer for a full refund.
Anyone with questions can call 800-543-3704.
