Trenton Slife was booked into the Mercer County Jail after he was stopped about 1:30 p.m. Monday by Celina police and members of a specialized drug enforcement unit, according to the Celina Police Department.

When the unit's members approached a black Nissan, officers said they could see the driver (later identified as Slife) rummaging through the car. He was very uncooperative, officers said, refusing to show his driver's license.

They arrested Slife on charges of obstructing official business.

Using a Mercer County Sheriff's K-9, officers found more than 50 grams of suspected meth in the car. That led to detaining him on an added charge of felony drug possession (bulk quantity).

According to Celina police, the specialized drug enforcement unit -- the Heroin Interdiction Team -- includes members of the Celina and Coldwater police departments and Mercer County Sheriff's deputies.

The team had the vehicle under surveillance and that allowed the team to develop probable cause to stop the car, according to the statement Celina police released Monday night.
