Man wanted for torching truck captured by police

DAYTON — A man police had been looking for since December after he didn’t show up for sentencing is now in jail.

Jordan Gay, 28, was released from jail on electronic home detention after posting bond. He entered into a plea agreement on charges of arson and firing a weapon into a house. He did not show up for his sentencing on Dec. 3.

The fire and shooting happened outside a house in the 1800 block of Kammer Avenue around 5:30 a.m. March 7.

Surveillance released in December shows Gay approach the pickup truck and douse it in gasoline. Gay then sets a piece of paper on fire and torches the pickup.

Gay shot toward the victim while the victim pulled the burning truck out of the driveway and away from the house.

Gay was arrested on Valentine’s Day and his sentencing date has not yet been scheduled, according to online records.
