Man seeking owner of wedding ring found in glove at Springfield Rural King

The search is on for the owner of a wedding band found inside a work glove at Rural King in Springfield.

State Rep. Kyle Koehler, R-Springfield, found the ring when he was shopping at the store two weeks ago.

He was trying on a pair of Kinco Grain Deerskin Driver gloves when he found a surprise in one of the fingers, and immediately the value of the gloves jumped well above the posted $18.99 price tag.

“At first I thought it was a key ring,” he said. “I thought someone had stuck something in there. There’s a piece of scrap metal in there, but obviously when I pulled it out, it was a beautiful, gold man’s wedding ring.”

Koehler turned the ring into the store for safekeeping, but he also took to his professional Facebook page to try to find the rightful owner.

“I’ve been married for 31 years. If I lost my wedding ring, I would be devastated,” he said.

He posted a picture of the gloves and the story of how he found the ring on Oct. 4, saying in part: “Some poor guy is walking around tonight freaking out because he doesn’t know when or how he lost his wedding ring. ... Let’s help this guy out (before he has to tell his wife!)”

UPDATE: THE OWNER WAS FOUND ON 2/23/2020 - Thank you for your help. Alright 79th District, I need your help. Tonight...

Since then, the post was shared over 1,500 times. Koehler said it’s reached more than 61,000 people — as far as Florida and Oregon.

Despite the ground covered, the owner still hasn’t been found. Koehler believes the owner lives in Clark County.

The ring is “very distinct in one aspect,” Koehler said. “The owner will be able to tell me what that is,” which is why Koehler said he did not post a photo on social media in case someone tried to falsely claim it.

“I’m assuming this is an older gentleman. The wear marks on the inside of the ring indicate it’s been worn for a very long time, so I’m hoping to find this guy,” Koehler said. “It is gonna be a great day when we find (him). He’s gonna be happy. His wife is gonna be happy.”

Anyone who believes the ring could be theirs should call the Springfield Rural King at 937-327-0875 and be prepared to describe it.
