Man, 63, jailed on sex-related charges involving alcohol, marijuana and a teen

A 63-year-old Indiana man has been booked into jail on several sex-related felonies accusing him of giving a teenager alcohol and marijuana before performing sex acts on the juvenile.

Richard Moore, of West Henry Street in Farmland, was arrested Tuesday on the following charges:

  • Rape
  • Sexual misconduct with a minor
  • Contributing to the delinquency of a minor
  • Maintaining a common nuisance
  • Sexual battery
  • Furnishing alcohol to a minor

Moore is jailed on a $20,000 bond.

In October 2017, the Randolph County Sheriff's Department received a report of a sex offense reported by a 16-year-old male.

The male told authorities he had been at Moore's apartment during that time when Moore gave him alcohol, marijuana, and cigarettes. That pattern occurred more than once, the boy told authorities.

But on the last occasion, he told investigators, he fell asleep intoxicated and awoke in the early morning hours to find Moore performing a sex act on him. He was 15 at the time, investigators said.

Randolph County authorities said evidence they found during the investigation leads them to believe Moore may have performed the same acts on more juveniles.

According to investigators, Moore in 2006 was charged and convicted of sexual battery in a case involving similar cirsumstances in the county.

If you or anyone you know has had any similar encounters with Moore, investigators urge you to contact sheriff's Capt. Tom Pullins, 765-584-3709, ext 241.
