Shooting victim found in Dayton church parking lot in fair condition

UPDATE @ 3 a.m. (Oct. 12): The 30-year-old victim found suffering from several gunshot wounds in the parking lot of a Dayton church Thursday is now in fair condition, according to a Miami Valley Hospital representative.

UPDATE @ 7:45 p.m.: The 30-year-old victim in the shooting reportedly is in serious but stable condition and police are looking for a suspect, Dayton Lt. Steven Bauer said.

The man was found, suffering from several gunshot wounds, in the parking lot of Greater Allen AME Church.

The church and lot are behind an apartment complex at College Street and Howell Avenue where the lieutenant said police believe the shooting occurred.

Officers found several shell casings at the apartment, he said, which they checked and found several gunshots had penetrated the wall to a neighboring unit.

A Dayton fire crew was called to force entry because of the bullet holes in the wall, Lt. Bauer said. They found that neighboring unit empty.
