Security reports peeping Tom looking under stalls at Beavercreek Kohl’s

BEAVERCREEK — Police are reviewing surveillance footage at Kohl’s in Beavercreek after security reported a man was looking under stalls in the women’s restroom.

Officers responded around 1 p.m. Friday to the store at 2850 Center Drive, but the man was gone and all they got was a vague description — tall; wearing a gray knit cap and black hooded sweatshirt with yellow lettering on the back; may have been carrying a backpack.

News Center 7's Ronnell Hunt spoke with Kohl's customers on Monday night, who said they were concerned about the invasion of privacy.

“That’s your private time. That’s your personal space, and you don’t like other people invading on your privacy,” customer Carolyn Evans of Enon said. “I like to go in there and know I am not having someone watching me get undressed. I’m not comfortable with that at all.”

Shane Smith of Beavercreek said he is a husband and father, and that hearing about the peeping Tom makes him concerned for his family when they go shopping without him.

“Kohl’s does a great job of providing stalls that have locks on them and stuff like that, but still kind of makes you think twice when you go in,” he said.

News Center 7 is working to obtain surveillance video of the suspect.

This is not the first time this sort of thing has happened at the Beavercreek store. Last May, police arrested a man after they said he put a cellphone under a dressing room stall while a girl was inside.
