The Heart Walk promotes physical activity and heart healthy living, while also fulfilling the organization’s commitment to fund the research and education that is critical to reducing heart disease and stroke, especially in the Springfield and Urbana communities.

“We have invested more than $4.1 billion in research, more than any U.S. nonprofit organization. Currently, we are funding $616,000 of experimental research right here in the Miami Valley”, the American Heart Association stated in a release.

With heart disease being the number one killer worldwide, and stroke ranking second, the organization has been striving to save and improve lives for nearly 100 years.

In addition to the walk, the event offered a health fair, free screenings, and health tips to attendees.
