Local woman starts donation drive for luggage for foster children

WASHINGTON TWP. — A local woman is asking people to donate gently used suitcases for children in foster care.

Pam Jones, of Washington Twp., saw a Facebook post about a child being taken from their home with only a trash bag to place their belongings in.

“It broke my heart,” she said.

Jones took to social media asking for donations of gently used backpacks, duffel bags and small suitcases.

“The whole idea is to give them something to transport their things without losing their self-esteem and their dignity,” she said.

She said when she gets home from work, she finds donations on her front door. In just two days, more than two dozen suitcases have been donated.

Jones will donate the luggage to foster care systems in March.

Those interested in making a donation can contact Pam at (513) 313-6538.
