MASON — Longtime Mason restaurant Angilo’s Pizza, 216 W. Main St., will be serving up its final slices of pizza and hoagie sandwiches on Saturday.
“To all of our customers, we want to thank you for your business over the years. We are sad to close,” Angilo’s posted on its Facebook page on July 21. “We love and appreciate all of our customers and God has truly blessed us for 56 years!”
Christine Guess, a co-owner of Angilo’s, has been with the business for 25 years after taking it over from her grandmother, one of the original owners of the restaurant when it opened in 1962.
It is time, Guess and her mother decided, to let the restaurant close and focus on their full-time jobs.
The restaurant’s Facebook announcement drew more than 100 comments, many of them filled with memories of Angilo’s Ziggy Bread and pleas for the restaurant to stay open.
“This restaurant will forever hold many great memories spent with my mom. So sad to see you close,” Mason resident Alisha Hunt posted.
Saturday, July 28, is Angilo’s last day of business. The restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., according to its website.
