SPRINGFIELD — A letter carrier who was struck in a crosswalk on his route Friday afternoon was airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital.
The pedestrian accident was reported around 3:10 p.m. at Spring and East Main streets in Springfield.
“The letter carrier was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk,” said Springfield police Sgt. Doug Pergram.
He was struck by a GMC Yukon driven by a woman who was on Main Street turning south onto Spring Street when she struck the letter carrier, the sergeant said.
The victim was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center and then transferred by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, where his condition was not known on Sunday.
The names of the letter carrier and driver were not released.
